John I, Count of Hainault, Holland, and Flanders 1246, Seigneur d’Avesnes & d’Etroen. Jean was the chid of a cleric and declared a bastard by the Pope in 1236 and 1244, but legitimatized bythe Emperor Frederick V in 1244.2

On 10 Sep 1246 when Jean I was 28, he married Adelaide of Holland (3499) , daughter of Count Florent IV of Holland (3406) (24 Jun 1200-19 Jul 1234) & Mathilde of Brabant (3032) (ca 1190-21 Dec 1267), in Frankfurt. Born ca 1225. Adelaide died in Mar 1284. Buried in Valenciennes, Hainault.
