Josiah was elected deacon 13 Feb 1714/5 as successor of his father, but refused to accept it.30 He was a representative from Weston in 1716, 1721, 1725, and 1726, and captain of militia. He built a home on the west part of his father’s land and lived there.102
Ca 1692 Josiah married Abigail Barnes, daughter of Thomas Barnes & Abigail Goodenow (11 Mar 1642-21 Apr 1734). Born on 14 Jun 1671 in Marlboro, MA. Abigail died in Stockbridge, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, on 4 Nov 1749; she was 78.30

    Nathaniel Jones, fourth child of Josiah Jones (2), was born in Watertown, December 31, 1674.
    He became a prominent citizen of Watertown, was one of the first settlers of Worcester, and later in life went to Falmouth, York county, Maine, and settled there.
    He was a captain of the Weston company.
    In 1719 he drew forty acres in the first division and was one of the third and permanent colony to settle Worcester.
    He was selectman of Worcester in 1722-23, and representive to the general court in 1727.

(There was a Nathaniel Jones who married a Mary Rediat at Concord 1 Sep 1696. He appears to be Nathaniel, son of Samuel and Elizabeth (Potter) Jones, who died at Concord 22 Mar 1745. Mary Rediat, also spelled Reddit, was the daughter of John and Susannah (Goodenow) Rediat, born 6 Feb 1674 at Marlboro, d. 17 Jan 1749 at Concord.)
Nathaniel first married Mary Cook (16304) , daughter of Dea. Stephen Cook (6070) (ca 1647-27 Jul 1738) & Rebecca Flagg (6147) (5 Sep 1660-20 Jun 1721). Born on 2 Dec 1681 in Watertown, MA.30 At the age of 6, Mary was baptized in Watertown, MA, on 15 Apr 1688.30 Mary died in Worcester, MA, on 21 Nov 1724; she was 42. Buried in Worcester, MA.
