The town of Half Moon is located in the southeast part of Saratoga County. It is bounded on the north by the town of Stillwater, on the west by the town of Clifton Park, on the south by the the Mohalk River with Schenectady County on the other side, on the southeast by the town of Waterford, and on the east by the Hudson River with Rensselaer County on the other side. The population of Half Moon in 1865 was 3032.

This map is on page 39 of the Atlas. There is a separate mas for the more built part of town at Crescent and at Middletown.
