473. Duke Heinrich I of Saxony Holy Roman Emperor. Born ca 876. Heinrich I died on 2 Jul 936 in Menleben, Saxony.

Henry, “der Vogelsteller”, duke of Saxony (912-936), and Emperor of Germany (916-936). He subjugated in 921 Arnulf of Bavaria, who had been established as anti-king. In 925 Lorrain reverted to the overlordship of Germany. Duke Giselbert later married Henrey’s daughter Gerberga. In 928/9 the Hevellers and Sorbs were subjugated. After an armistice of nine years, henry defeated the Magyars (hungarians) in 933 at Riade.

Heinrich I first married Hatheberge.

ca 909 Heinrich I second married Matilda of Ringelheim (401) , daughter of Dietrich of Ringelheim Count of Saxon-Hamelant (323) (ca 872-8 Dec 917) & Gisela of Lorraine (422) (ca 860/865-bef 26 Oct 907). Born ca 890 in Memleben, Saxony. Matilda died on 14 Mar 968 in Quedlinburg.
