Ælflæd married King Edward the Elder of England (405) , son of Alfred the Great of Wessex King of England (327) (849-26 Oct 899) & Ealhswith of Mercia (ca 852-5 Dec 905). Born in 871/2 in Wessex, England. Edward the Elder died on 17 Jul 924 in Farndon on Dee, Chester. Buried in Winchester.

Edward, king of the West Saxons from 899 to 924, conquered most of the areas of England which had been under control of the Danes. He succeeded his father Alfred the Great after Alfred’s death in Oct 899, and took control of Mercia upon his sister’s death.
