William I, the Conquerer, King of England (1066-1087), Duke of Normandy. He was the illegitimate son of Robert I, Duke of Normandy. He died at the seige of Nantes, France. He was succeeded by his son, William II.

On 21 Jun 1051 when William I was 23, he married Matilda of Flanders (1179) , daughter of Count Baldwin V of Flanders (1133) (ca 1012-1 Sep 1067) & Comtesse Adele de Contenance (928) (1009-8 Jan 1079). Born ca 1032 in Flanders, France. Matilda died on 2 Nov 1083 in Caen, Calvados, France.

Adelize, also spelled Adela or Adelaide.

Adelize first married Comte Enguerrand II de Ponthieu (1470) , son of Comte Hugh II de Ponthieu (1173) (ca 1000-20 Nov 1062) & Bertha of Aumale (ca 998-). Enguerrand II died in 1053 in Arques.

Enguerrand was slain at the siege of Arques.

ca 1053/4 Adelize second married Lambert de Boulogne-sur-Mer Comte de Lens (1029) , son of Comte Eustace I de Boulogne (ca 1004-ca 1049) & Maud of Louvain (795). Lambert died in 1054 in Phalampin.

ca 1060 Adelize third married Comte Eudes III de Troyes (1449) , son of Comte Étienne I de Troyes (1155) (-ca 1048) & Adela. Eudes III died aft 1096.
