2956. Theresa of Portugal. Born ca 1176. Theresa died on 18 Jun 1250 in Lorvano.

In 1191 Theresa married King Alfonso IX of Castile & León (2824) , son of King Ferdinand II of León (2363) (ca 1137-21 Jan 1188) & Urraca of Portugal (2483) (ca 1150/1-16 Oct 1188), in Guimaraes. Born on 15 Aug 1171 in Zamora, León. Alfonso IX died in Villanuava de Sarria, Castile, on 24 Sep 1230; he was 59. Marriage was annulled in 1198.

Alfonso, King of Castile & León (1188-1230). He took Mérida and Badajoz in 1230.

The marriage between Berenguela of Castile and Alfonso IX, King of León was disolved by order of the pope (Alfonso IX and and Berenguela’s father Alfonso VIII were first cousins), but their children were proclaimed legitimate.

2958. King Alfonso II of Portugal. Born on 12 Apr 1185 in Coimbra. Alfonso II died in Coimbra on 5 Mar 1223; he was 37.

Alfonso II married Urraca of Castile (3229) , daughter of King Alfonso VIII of Castile (2823) (11 Nov 1155-6 Aug 1214) & Eleanor of England (2750) (13 Oct 1162-25 Oct 1214). Born ca 1186. Urraca died in 1220 in Lisbon, Portugal. Buried in Acobace.

2959. Mafalda of Portugal. Born ca 1197. Mafalda died in 1257.

In 1215 Mafalda married King Enrique I of Castile (3234) , son of King Alfonso VIII of Castile (2823) (11 Nov 1155-6 Aug 1214) & Eleanor of England (2750) (13 Oct 1162-25 Oct 1214). Born ca 1204. Enrique I died in 1217 in Palencia. They were divorced in 1216.
