3443. William de Ferrers. Born ca 1193 in Ferrers, Derbyshire. William died on 24 Mar 1254 in Evington, near Leicester. Buried on 31 Mar 1254 in Merevale Abbey, Warwickshire.

William, fifth Earl of Derby. One account states that William died at Evington, near Leicester, and another that he died at St. Neots, County Huntingdon. His first wife is Sibyl Marshall (who died). Burke states that "His lordship, who from his youth had been a martyr to the gout, and in consequence, obliged to be drawn from place to place in a chariot, lost his life by being thrown, through the heedlessness of his driver, over the bridge of St. Neots, co. Huntingdon, in 1254." By Margaret he also had Joan (m. Thomas, Lord Berkeley) and Agnes (m. Robert de Muscegros, Lord of Deerhurst). William, 5th Earl of Derby, accompanied the King to France in 1230 and was constable of Bolsover Castle 28 Feb 1235 to 3 July 1236.

bef 1219 William first married Sybil Marshal (3381) , daughter of Sir William Marshal (ca 1146-14 May 1219) & Isabel de Clare (2901) (ca 1171/2-1220). Born ca 1191 in Pembroke, Pembrokeshire. Sybil died bef 1238.

In 1238 William second married Margaret de Quincy (3706) , daughter of Roger de Quincy Earl of Winchester (3288) (ca 1174-25 Apr 1264) & Helen of Galloway (3679) (ca 1196-aft 21 Nov 1245). Born ca 1215/1220 in Lincoln, Lincolnshire. Margaret died on 12 Mar 1279 in Clerkenwell, England.

Sibyl married John de Vipont (3954) , son of Robert de Vipont (-ca 1227) & Idonea de Busli (3533) (-1241). Born ca 1195/1205 in Appleby, Wessex. John died in 1241.
