4232. Count Jean of Luxembourg King of Bohemia. Born on 10 Aug 1296 in Luxembourg. Jean died in Crécy on 26 Aug 1346; he was 50.

Jean, King of Bohemia (1310-1346).

On 1 Sep 1310 when Jean was 14, he first married Elisabeth of Bohemia, daughter of King Václav II of Bohemia & Poland (17 Sep 1271-21 Jun 1305) & Jutta von Hapsburg (ca 1271-18 Jun 1297), in Speyer. Born on 29 Jan 1292. Elisabeth died in Vysehrad on 28 Sep 1330; she was 38.

Elisabeth, also known as Eliska, heiress of Bohemia.

In Dec 1334 Jean second married Beatrix de Bourbon (4243) , daughter of Duc Louis I de Bourbon (4139) (1279-29 Jan 1342) & Marie d’ Avesnes (3885) (ca 1280-28 Aug 1354). Born in 1320. Beatrix died on 23 Dec 1383 in Danvillers.

4233. Marie of Luxembourg. Born ca 1304 in Issoudun-en-Berry. Marie died on 26 Mar 1324. She died in childbirth. Buried in St. Dominique, Montargis.

On 21 Sep 1322 Marie married King Charles IV of France (4407) , son of King Philip IV of France (4112) (1268-29 Nov 1314) & Queen Juana I of Navarre (4099) (14 Jan 1273-2 Apr 1305), in Paris. Born in 1295. Charles IV died on 1 Feb 1327 in Château du Bois-de-Vincennes. Buried in St. Denis, Paris.

Charles IV, King of France (1322-1327), and as Carlos I, King of Navarre (1322-1327); also count de La marche 1314. The question of succession after his death began the Hundred Years War between England and France. Edward III of England had a claim to the French throne as his mother Isabella was Charles IV’s sister. An assembly of magnates decided in favor of Charles IV’s cousin Philip, Count of Valois, who became Philip VI, King of France.
