4403. King Louis X of France. Born on 4 Oct 1289. Louis X died in Château du Bois-de-Vincennes, on 5 Jun 1316; he was 26. Buried in St. Denis, Paris.

Louis X, le Hutin, King of France (1314-1316), and as Luis I, King of Navarre (1305-1316). He was succeeded by his brother Philip V.

On 23 Sep 1305 when Louis X was 15, he first married Marguerite de Bourgogne (4140) , daughter of Duc Robert II de Bourgogne (3785) (1248-21 Mar 1306) & Agnes of France (3773) (1260-1327), in Vernon-en-Normandie. Born in 1290. Marguerite died on 14 Aug 1315 in Château de Gaillard. She was strangled. Buried in Vernon-en-Normandie.

4405. King Philip V of France. Born in 1291. Philip V died on 3 Jan 1322 in Longchamps. Buried in St. Denis, Paris.

Philip V, the Tall, king of France (1316-1322) and as Filipe II, king of Navarre (1316-1322). Also count of Poitier 1311. He was succeeded by his brother Charles IV.

In 1307 Philip V married Jeanne I d’ Artois (4169) , daughter of Comte Otto V de Bourgogne (3940) (bef 1248-17 Mar 1302) & Mathilde d’ Artois (3799) (1268-27 Oct 1329), in Corbeil. Born bef 15 Jan 1292. Jeanne I died on 21 Jan 1330 in Roye-en-Picardie. Buried in Paris, France.

4406. Isabella of France. Born ca 1295 in Paris. Isabella died on 22 Aug 1358 in Convent of the Sisters of Santa Clara, Castle Rising, Norfolk. Buried in Church of the Grey Friars, London.

On 22 Jan 1308 Isabella married King Edward II of England (3978) , son of King Edward I of England (3643) (17 Jun 1239-8 Jul 1307) & Eleanor of Castile Comtesse de Ponthieu (3542) (ca 1239-12 Nov 1290), in Boulogne Pas-De-Calais, France.2 Born on 25 Apr 1284 in Caernavon Castle, Caernarvonshire, Wales.2 Edward II died in Berkeley Castle, Gloucestershire, on 21 Sep 1327; he was 43.2 Buried in Benedictine Abbey (Gloucester Cathedral).2

Edward, King of England (1307-1327). He was the first English Prince of Wales, 1301. He abdicateed Jan 1327, and was murdered at Berkeley Castle, near Gloucestershire.

Charles IV, King of France (1322-1327), and as Carlos I, King of Navarre (1322-1327); also count de La marche 1314. The question of succession after his death began the Hundred Years War between England and France. Edward III of England had a claim to the French throne as his mother Isabella was Charles IV’s sister. An assembly of magnates decided in favor of Charles IV’s cousin Philip, Count of Valois, who became Philip VI, King of France.

ca 1306/7 Charles IV first married Blanche de Bourgogne (4170) , daughter of Comte Otto V de Bourgogne (3940) (bef 1248-17 Mar 1302) & Mathilde d’ Artois (3799) (1268-27 Oct 1329). Born in 1295. Blanche died ca 1325/6. They were divorced on 7 Sep 1322.

On 21 Sep 1322 Charles IV second married Marie of Luxembourg (4233) , daughter of Count Henry VII of Luxembourg Emperor (3876) (12 Jul 1274-24 Aug 1313) & Margaret of Brabant (4246) (4 Oct 1276-14 Dec 1311), in Paris. Born ca 1304 in Issoudun-en-Berry. Marie died on 26 Mar 1324. She died in childbirth. Buried in St. Dominique, Montargis.

In 1325 Charles IV third married Jeanne d’ Évreux (4431) , daughter of Comte Louis d’ Évreux (4136) (1276-1319) & Marguerite d’ Artois (4172) (1285-1311), in Paris. Born ca 1310. Jeanne died in 1371 in Brie-Comte=Robert. Buried in St. Denis, Paris.

4408. Robert of France. Born in 1297. Robert died in 1308 in St. Germain-en-Laye. Buried in St. Louis, Poissy.
