bef 8 sep 1352 Gilbert first married Petronella Butler (4311) , daughter of James Butler (4533) (ca 1305-6 Jan 1337/8) & Eleanor de Bohun (3997) (17 Oct 1304-7 Oct 1363). Petronella died on 23 Apr 1368.

On 16 Nov 1379 Gilbert second married Joan de Stafford (4801) , daughter of Ralph de Stafford Earl of Stafford (4517) (24 Sep 1301-31 Aug 1372) & Margaret d’ Audley (4549) (ca 1318/1325-7 Sep 1347). Born ca 1337 in Staffordshire. Joan died bef 1397.
