1874. King Alfonso VII of Castile & León. Born on 1 Mar 1105 in Castile. Alfonso VII died in Fresneda, Spain, on 21 Aug 1157; he was 52. Buried in Cathedral de Santa Maria, Toledo.

Alfonso VII, King of Castile & Léon (1126-1157). He was crowned Emperor at the Cathedral of Léon in 1135. Others had called themselves Emperor, but apparently his was the only coronation.

Upon Alfonso’s death, he divided his realms between his sons—Sancho III of Castile, and Ferdinand II of Léon.

On 10 Nov 1128 when Alfonso VII was 23, he first married Berenguela of Barcelona (2004) , daughter of Conde Ramón Berenguer III de Barcelona (1546) (11 Nov 1082-19 Aug 1131) & Dolce I de Gevaudun Comtesse de Provence (1872) (ca 1095-ca 1127/1130), in Saldana, Spain. Born ca 1116 in Saldana. Berenguela died on 15 Jan 1149 in Palencia, Spain. Buried in Cathedral de Santiago el Mayor, Santiago de Compostella.

ca 1152 Alfonso VII second married Richilda of Poland (2569) , daughter of Grand Prince Vladislav II of Poland (2098) (1105-30 May 1159) & Agnes of Bamberg (2261) (ca 1108/1113-25 Jan 1157). Born ca 1130. Richilda died on 16 Jan 1185.
