On 2 Feb 1387 when João I was 28, he first married Philippa of Lancaster (4810) , daughter of John of Gaunt Duke of Lancaster (4525) (24 Jun 1340-3 Feb 1399) & Blanche of Lancaster (4681) (25 Mar 1343-12 Sep 1369), in Oporto. Born on 31 Mar 1360 in Leicester, Leicestershire. Philippa died on 19 Aug 1415; she was 55. Buried in Batalla.
