In Feb 1660 Elizabeth married Stephen Lincoln (7692) , son of Stephen Lincoln (2784) (-11 Oct 1658) & Margaret (-Jun 1642), in Hingham, MA.45 Born on 14 Jul 1639 in Windham, Norfolk. Stephen died in Hingham, MA, on 7 Sep 1692; he was 53.45 Occupation: carpener.

Stephen was freeman 1680, and selectman in 1685. He was one of the proprietors among whome the common lands were divided. He resided on South, near the corner of Hersey St.45

On 20 Jan 1658 Sarah married Col. John Cushing Esq. (15317) , son of Matthew Cushing (5689) (ca Mar 1588-30 Sep 1660) & Nazareth Pitcher (ca Oct 1586-5 Jan 1681/2), in Hingham, MA.47 Born ca 1627 in Hingham, Norfolk.47 John died in Scituate, MA on 31 Mar 1708.52

“In 1638 John Cushing, aged eleven, came with his parents Matthew and Nazareeth and four siblings to New England. ... John returned to England briefly in 1657-1658, visiting his uncle Peter Cushing in London, and buying clothes, a bed tick and a pair of steelyards there, as well as travelling to Norwich and Hingham in Norfolk, where he visited other relatives .... This trip may represent the beginnings of John Cushing’s long career as a merchant, town official and justice of the peace.”7

    John Cushing, sen. came into Scituate from Hingham, 1662, and purchased the farm on ‘Belle house neck,’ of Capt. John Vassall, son of William Vassall, to whom it was laid out 1634. He was the son of Matthew Cushing, and Nazareth Pitcher his wife. Matthew was born in England 1588, the son of Petert Cushing of NOrfolk, whose grandfather had possessed large estates in Lombard street, London. Matthew Cushing, with his wife and five children, viz. Daniel, Jeremiah, Matthew, Deborah, and John, sailed from Gravesend, April 26, 1638, in the ship Diligent, John Martin of Ipswich master, and arrived at Boston on the 10th of August. They appear in Hingham in the autumn of the same year. ... We return to John, sen., who settled in Scituate. ... He was a deputy to the Colony Court many years, and first in 1674: an assistant of the Colony Government 1689, 90 and 91, and representative to the Court at Boston, the first year after the two Colonies were united in 1692, and several succeeding years.

    In 1657 he, together with Matthias Briggs, purchased for 120 pounds the Varsall Estate at ‘Belle House Neck,’ Scituate, which consisted of 120 acres with house and barns. He did not move there, however, until about 1662. The land on which the farm was situated was always known as ‘Belle House Neck,’ a name given to the place in consequence of a of a bell that hung at the house there, for a century, to give an alarm to the neighboring country in case of the approach of Indians. In 1663 he was surveyer of highways and in 1667, receiver of excises. He was deputy to the colony in 1674 and often reelected. In 1673, he was on the committee for dividing Scituate lands; and in 1676, was chosen to report to the Government a statement of all services of the soldiers of Scituate in the war with King Philip. Selectman from 1674 to 1686 inclusive, and County Magistrate (Plymouth Co.) 1685 to 1692. Assistant of the Old Colony Government of Plymouth Colony 1689 to 1691, and representative to the General Court at Boston in 1692 (the first year after the two colonies, Plymouth and Massachusetts, were united), and for several succeeding years, Member of the Council 1706 and 1707. He was also Colonel of the Plymouth Regiment.

In 1676 he was chosen to make report to the government of all services of the soldiers in King Philip’s War from the town of Scituate.42

On 15 Aug 1665 Bethia married Capt. Benjamin Stetson (8563) , son of Cornet Robert Stetson (2975) (ca 1615-1 Feb 1702/3) & Honor Tooker (ca 1612-1684), in Hingham, MA.45,52 Born in Aug 1641 in Scituate, MA.62 Benjamin was baptized in the Second Church of Scituate, on 5 Oct 1645.335 Benjamin died in Scituate, MA on 4 May 1711.52

Benjamin was representative 1691 at Plymouth, and after the union with Massachusetts in Boston 1693, 94, and 1700.25 He resided at “Bald Hill.”

On 8 Dec 1670 Mary married Dea. Benjamin Loring (2806) , son of Dea. Thomas Loring (1215) (ca 1600-4 Apr 1661) & Jane Newton (-25 Aug 1672), in Hingham, MA.45 Born ca 1644 in Hingham, MA. Benjamin was baptized in Hingham, MA, on 24 Nov 1644.14 Benjamin died in Hull, MA on 10 Mar 1716.165 Buried in Hull Cemetery. Occupation: farmer.

From the Loring Genealogy, page 20:107
    Benjamin was admitted a freeman of the colony in 1673. Was for many years a deacon of the church of Hull and a selectman of the town and often moderator. Cultivated the farm his father had tilled. He died March 10, 1715-16. The inventory of his estate reported one dwelling house, seven acres of tillage land, one hundred seventy-five bushels of corn or grain, six and a half acres of mowing land, four tons of English hay, one ton of salt hay, twenty-seven acres of pasture land, ten cow leases of pasturage, one slave, one horse, twenty oxen, three cows and thirty-nine sheep.
   
In 1690, Benjamin and others petitioned the General Court for protection for Hull against pirates and other enemies at sea.109

Benjamin died in his 72d year.165

On 9 Jul 1678 James married Sarah Jacob (10628) , daughter of Capt. John Jacob (11009) (ca 1630-18 Sep 1693) & Margery Eames (3522) (ca 1630-7 Apr 1659), in Hingham, MA.45 Born on 29 Sep 1657 in Hingham, MA.45 Sarah was baptized in Hingham, MA, 28 Feb 1657/8.45 Sarah died in Hingham, MA, on 15 Mar 1694; she was 36.45

Ca 1683 Deborah first married Capt. John Briggs (16083) , son of Walter Briggs (5993) (-ca 1684) & Mary (-aft 1684).42 Born in Dec 1644 in Scituate, MA.42 John died in Boston, MA on 22 Mar 1687.52

John, was captain of a company in King Philip’s War, of which his brother James was lieutenant and his brother Cornelius was ensign. In 1686 he was a captain under Sir Edmund Andros, Governor of ‘the Dominion of New England.’ He was Constable of Scituate, 3 June 1668; Juror 1678; member of the ‘Grand Enquest’ 1678, 1682, and 1684. He later moved to Boston.42

John died age 42 years, 3 months.52

On 15 Jun 1699 Deborah second married Dea. Thomas King (6302) , son of Eld. Thomas King (2482) (ca 1613-24 Sep 1691) & Sarah Tinker (3005) (ca 1619-6 Jun 1652), in Scituate, MA.52 Born on 21 Jun 1645 in Scituate, MA.62,52 Thomas was baptized on 7 Sep 1645.129 Thomas died in Scituate, MA, on 1 Dec 1711; he was 66.52

Thomas first married Elizabeth Clap, second Deborah Briggs, probably Deborah (Hawke) Briggs, widow of John Briggs.

“Thomas and Elizabeth resided on the north side of Rotten March, but before 1680 Deacon King purchased Nathaniel Rawlins’ farm at Stony Cove Brook, and built the house now (1936) standing in ruins.”42

Thomas was a deacon of the church since the death of Deacon Thomas Robinson in 1676.42

“Dea. Thomas King’s will, dated 1711, gives ‘to son Daniel the homestead; (of Elder Thomas King, late deceased, on the neck); he allowing daughter Anne to live in the house. To son John a farm in Marshfield. To son George the farm where I now dewll, also a lot adjoining my brother Samuel Clap’s land. To daughter Mercy Winslow 30£. To daughter Anne King 30£. To son Ichabod, &c.’”53

On 4 Jun 1685 Hannah married Peter Cushing (10024) , son of Daniel Cushing Esq (15313) (ca 1619-3 Dec 1700) & Lydia Gilman (3375) (say 1623-12 Mar 1688/9), in Hingham, MA.45 Born on 29 Mar 1646 in Hingham, MA.45 Peter died in Hingham, MA, on 14 Apr 1719; he was 73.45

Peter was constable 1688; selectman 1689 and 1702. He resided on East Street, Hingham. His will was proved 12 Oct 1719.45

In 1679 Peter’s father Daniel, built for Peter the house near the Cohasset line, in that part of Hingham known as Rocky Nook, which has been occupied by five generations of Peter’s descendants. When the house was built there was no road going by it, the only way leading to it was Turkey Hill Lane, a path leading from the “Plain” to Cohasset.42
