3319. King Jaime I of Aragon. Born on 1 Feb 1208 in Montpelier. Jaime I died in Valencia on 25 Jul 1276; he was 68.

James I, “el Conquistador”, King of Aragon (1213-1276). He conquered Majorca in 1229 and received the surrender of the city of Valeia in 1238, and so added the titles King of Majorca and King of Valencia.

In 1221 Jaime I first married Leonor of Castile (3233) , daughter of King Alfonso VIII of Castile (2823) (11 Nov 1155-6 Aug 1214) & Eleanor of England (2750) (13 Oct 1162-25 Oct 1214), in Agreda. Born ca 1202. Leonor died in 1244 in Burgos. Marriage was annulled in 1229.

On 8 Sep 1235 when Jaime I was 27, he second married Yolande of Hungary (3365) , daughter of King András II of Hungary (3163) (1176-21 Sep 1235) & Yolande de Courtenay (2881) (ca 1195/1200-7 Mar 1232/3), in Barcelona. Born ca 1215 in Esztergom, Hungary. Yolande died on 12 Oct 1251 in Huesca.

Yolande, also spelled Violante.
