4215. Anne le Despencer. Born ca 1248.

Anne married Sir William de Ferrers (3864) , son of William de Ferrers (3443) (ca 1193-24 Mar 1254) & Margaret de Quincy (3706) (ca 1215/1220-12 Mar 1279). Born in 1240. William died on 20 Dec 1287.

William is the second son, titular Earl of Derby since his elder brother was deprived of the earldom in 1265; - his mother gave him the manor of Groby in Liecestershire and he assumed the arms of the family of De Quincy (his maternal forebears). Burke's "Dormant Peerages" (1883, p. 198) states that he married 1st "Joane, dau. of Hugh le Despencer; and 2ndly, Eleanor, dau. of Matthew Lovaine" and that his two children were by Joane (William, his successor, and Anne [who m. John, Lord Grey of Wilton]); and reports that he died in 1288. Collins, "Royal Ancestors...," gives his death date as 20 Dec 1287.

4216. Eleanor le Despencer. Born in Ryhall, Rutland, Wales. Eleanor died on 30 Sep 1328 in London, England. Buried in Cowick, Devonshire.

Eleanor married Hugh de Courtenay (4088) , son of John de Courtenay (3815) (ca 1218-3 May 1274) & Isabel de Vere (3711) (ca 1234-aft 11 Aug 1299). Born on 25 Mar 1248/9 in Okehampon, Devonshire. Hugh died in Cullicomb, Devonshire, on 28 Feb 1291; he was 41.

4218. Sir Hugh le Despencer. Born on 1 Mar 1261 in Loughborough, Leicestershire. Hugh died in Bristol, Gloucestershire, on 29 Oct 1326; he was 65. He was hanged.

Hugh, Earl of Winchester.

Hugh married Isabel de Beauchamp (4186) , daughter of William de Beauchamp Earl of Warwick (3819) (ca 1227/1237-9 Jun 1298) & Maud fitz John (3946) (ca 1237-16 Apr 1301). Born ca 1260 in Elmley Castle, Worcestershire. Isabel died bef May 1306 in Kidwelly, Carmarthenshire.
