2353. Comte Geoffrey V Plantagenet d’ Anjou. Born on 24 Aug 1113 in Anjou, France. Geoffrey V Plantagenet died in Château du Loire, Eure-et-Loire, on 7 Sep 1151; he was 38. Buried in St. Julians, Le Mans, Anjou.

Geoffrey V Plantagenet, Count of Anjou, Touraine, & Maine (1129-1151), and Duke of Normandy (1144-1151).

On 3 Apr 1126 when Geoffrey V Plantagenet was 12, he first married Empress Matilda of Germany (1940) , daughter of King Henry I of England (1500) (1068-1 Dec 1135) & Matilda of Scotland (1800) (ca 1079/80-1 May 1118), in Le Mans. Born on 7 Feb 1102 in WInchester, England. Matilda died in Notre Dame des Pres, Rouen, on 10 Sep 1167; she was 65.

Matilda, also known as Maud. Her father died in 1135 and was succeeded by her sousin Stephen. In 1139 she and her half-brother Robert, Earl of Gloucester, challenged Stephen. She was made “lady of the English” in 1141 when she captured Stephen, but she was soon dethroned. She withdrew her challenge in 1148 in favor of her son Henry. Upon the death of Stephen’s son Eustace in 1153, Stephen named Matilda’s son Henry his heir.

2354. Comte Helie de Maine. Helie died in 1151.

Helie married Phillippe du Perche.

2355. Mahaut d’ Anjou. Mahaut died in 1154.

In 1119 Mahaut married Duke William III Athling of Normandy. William III Athling died in 1120. He drowned.

2356. Sibylle d’ Anjou. Born ca 1112/1116 in Anjou. Sibylle died ca 1165.

Sibylle, also known as Mabirie.

In 1123 Sibylle first married William Clito of Normandy Count of Flanders (1935) , son of Duke Robert III of Normandy (1490) (ca 1054-10 Feb 1134) & Sybille de Conversano. Born in 1101. William Clito died on 27 Jul 1128. They were divorced in 1124.

In 1134 Sibylle second married Count Thierry of Flanders (1629) , son of Duke Thierry II of Lorraine (1275) (ca 1040-23 Jan 1115) & Gertrude of Flanders (1508) (ca 1070/1080-1117). Born ca 1100 in Alsace. Thierry died on 17 Jan 1168 in Grevelingen, Flanders.

Thierry was also known as Dietrich II, Count of Alsace and Count of Flanders.
